Ed Goldsmith has over 40 years of public and non-profit experience in affordable housing and community development. In addition to MICAH’s Board, he serves on the Leadership Team of the Suburban Hennepin Housing Coalition and the Board of the Outreach Development Corporation, which is affiliated with Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners.

His career began at the City of Minneapolis managing Public Housing and non-profit subsidized housing for families, seniors, persons with special needs, and other single individuals. He expanded into redevelopment, working on the City’s East Bank and Nicollet Island Development District. He was the Project Coordinator leading redevelopment activities in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood, 1985-91.

He worked at the City of Plymouth as Housing and Redevelopment Manager, 1994-2001. He oversaw the City’s Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher, Community Redevelopment, Home Rehabilitation, First Time Homebuyer, Senior Housing, and Affordable Housing Programs. He worked with MICAH to facilitate development of approximately 400 affordable housing units in Plymouth. He also served as the City’s representative to the Hennepin County/City of Minneapolis Taskforce on Homelessness and the Northwest Hennepin Human Services Council.

He’s worked on housing programs for the ARC of Minnesota, Metropolitan Center for Independent Living, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, served as interim Executive Director of the South Central Multi-County Housing and Redevelopment Authority, and Housing Director of the Anoka County Community Action Program. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a minor in Urban Studies from Brooklyn College and Master’s Degree from the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota in Public Administration with an emphasis on Urban Development and Affordable Housing.
